Christmas Caroling

Nov 29, 2017

As was stated in an earlier memo, for the month of December, we will be collecting items for the residents of the Covenant Shelter located here in New London. This home is for homeless families (currently, there are six families with children 8-17 years of age) and homeless single men (about 18 men ages 18-55). As suggested by The Day newspaper, we will collect gift cards in lieu of items. In addition to providing them with gift cards, we, the St. Brendan the Navigator Church Community, will be singing Christmas Carols outside the front door followed by hot chocolate and snacks in Assumption Hall (downstairs in St. Mary Star of the Sea church).

Let us bring tidings of comfort and joy

  • During December, we will collect gift cards in increments of $10 to stores such as Walmart, Target or Job Lot so residents can shop for items they desperately need. If you wish to donate items, festive candy, chocolate or packaged goodies are welcome.

  • On December 17th at 1:30 p.m., Fr. Mark invites all families to join him outside of the Covenant House, 42 Jay St. and sing Christmas Carols ♫ to the residents (song books will be provided). We will deliver the bag of gifts that were collected during the month of December. Children MUST BE accompanied by an adult. There is plenty of parking in the St. Mary church lot.

  • Immediately afterward, hot chocolate and snacks will be served to our Carolers in Assumption Hall (downstairs from St. Mary Star of the Sea church).

Please RSVP to Pam at pamward.stjosph@gmail.com or text to 860-398-1057 by December 10th so we can get an accurate count for refreshments. I look forward to seeing many of our St. Joseph Church families!
